Department Vision:
We aim to ensure that linguists at Stone Lodge School (SLS) have access to a high-quality, knowledge rich, curriculum where they will gain the skills to become Confident Communicators in with the wider world. Our curriculum looks at a variety of areas from daily life and the world around us, in order to give students the ability to interact with others in a Spanish speaking environment. Linguists at SLS will be will develop the key skills required to speak academically, express points of view, understand different cultures and ways of life and work and communicate with others. Our aim is that they leave SLS not only with the ability to have general day-to-day conversations in Spanish, but more importantly the ability to use key communication skills that the modern world requires.

Advice For Parents & Carers
Communication skills are a key foundation to our students’ successful lives. Whether it be using the Spanish language itself, or the skills gained through the process of language learning, we are supporting the students in learning key life skills.
We have a subscription to www.languagenut.com and all students have been given an account with this learning platform. This can be accessed from the school library or at home and allow students the chance to consolidate vocabulary knowledge, as well as practice their reading, listening, writing and speaking skills through fun, interactive tasks. Alongside the Knowledge Organiser homework tasks, using this website for 15-30 minutes a week can greatly support language acquisition and the development of communication skills. We encourage you to support your child to use them for independent studies.
