Our School

OUR VISION AND VALUES

Endeavour MAT was created to extend opportunities to all students in its care. We are unique in the area in that we have both selective and non-selective schools in the Trust which means that staff and students at the school will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with their counterparts at Wilmington Grammar School for Girls and Wilmington Grammar School for Boys and via alliances with other prestigious secondary schools within Kent.

Endeavour MAT accepts that a ‘one size fits all’ approach to education restricts student progress and therefore we promote a personalised approach to teaching and learning in all of its schools. Students are loosely set according to their relative performance in different subjects and are also gender set where appropriate, to ensure learning approaches can be tailored to meet individual and group requirements. Active learning rather than passive learning is encouraged and the schools take steps to ensure that as far as possible, any potential barriers to learning are removed for students.

In Stone Lodge School we share a core belief that emotional wellbeing and academic attainment go hand in hand. As with all Endeavour MAT schools, students are encouraged to adopt a growth mindset (Endeavour Mindset), which is critical to personal development and there is a collective appreciation that intelligence is neither fixed nor finite as we all embark on a journey of self-improvement.

Our vision is clear: We want all of our students to graduate from Stone Lodge School with the capacity to make significant changes for the better within their local, national and global community.

Our values are summed up using the following acronym:

R I D E S

Respect

We acknowledge that members of our school community are consistently expected to give due regard to the feelings, wishes, and rights of others. We accept the premise that we should treat others as we would wish to be treated.

Integrity

is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. This is an important value within Stone Lodge School

Determination

All stakeholders are expected to show drive and a will to succeed. This is often known as having ‘grit’. In the Stone Lodge community, all stakeholders are expected to try their hardest and not easily surrender when a task appears to be too difficult.

Equality

of Opportunity refers to the fact that Stone Lodge is keen to ensure fairness and an absence of discrimination, in the sense that opportunities are available for all students within the school, regardless of any protected characteristics such as race, colour, age, gender, national origin, religion, or mental or physical disabilities.

Self-Management

All our students are expected to manage their time, resources and behaviours to ensure they reach their potential and add to the common good.

Governance

Stone Lodge School is part of Endeavour MAT, which has its own website to explain the overall strategic Trust structure. At local level however, each school has its own Local Governing Body (LGB). Dr Cusick, the Headteacher, is an ex-officio governor. We are pleased to have recruited a diverse group of people with complementary strengths and experience.

The role of the LGB to monitor the effectiveness of the school’s vision, plans and implementation such that the school is compliant with national policies and provides value for money. Since moving into the new building in April 2022, the LGB has been able to increase its physical presence in the school, meeting more staff, students, parents and carers. We are enormously proud of how our staff, students, parents and carers have embraced all of the changes. Our evidence to date, which includes some nationally comparable data, suggests that our students are doing extremely well.

Sara Kemsley, chairs the LGB at Stone Lodge School.

To contact Sara Kemsley, email office@stonelodgeschool.co.uk marking your message for her attention.
Sara has prepared a short explanation of how and when governors can get involoved in matters of concern to parents and carers.  Before contacting her, please click here to read the document as it may save you time and worry.

Kplom Lotsu, Vice Chair

I am delighted to be given the opportunity to serve as a community Governor of this thriving school and to bring, perhaps, one of the most important perspectives in the school community – that of the parents – to the discussions of the Governing Body. As well as a parent perspective, I bring to the governing body significant experience in programme and project management, strategy development and delivery and change management expertise developed over many years as a senior leader in a Local Authority. My focus in the short term will be supporting the excellent work of the team in ensuring that we have a balanced budget focussed on delivering the priorities that matter to our children, parents and other stakeholders from across the local community and that we constantly challenge ourselves to deliver value for money in everything that we do.

She has a keen interest in bridging the gap between schools and the work environment, providing exposure, insight, support and training to the next generation of young individuals as they embark on their next steps as young adults. With 2 children currently in secondary schools which are part of Endeavour MAT, she was keen to bring her skillset and experience to Stone Lodge School. Lyndsey is the Director of Operations for KpH Deconstruction Services Ltd and is responsible for the overall delivery of the business including its corporate strategy, finance, HR and Quality Management. Lyndsey has spent the past 15 years in the Construction Industry and has built up a wealth of experience in that time. She is keen to encourage other young ladies to follow in her footsteps and challenge the status quo.

Jacky Ekwe, Governor

As an Electrical Engineer with the AtkinsRéalis London Infrastructure team, I am passionate about transforming modern infrastructure through innovative and sustainable electrical designs. My work goes beyond meeting industry standards I strive to push the boundaries of functionality, safety, and efficiency, ensuring that the built environment is not only resilient but also future ready. For me, electrical building design is more than a profession, it is a driving force that inspires me to create lasting, impactful solutions. Beyond engineering, I am committed to making a difference in my community. I chose to become a school governor because I believe in actively shaping the change I want to see in the world. Having experienced the inner London school system firsthand, I understand both its challenges and its immense potential. While I have been fortunate to forge a positive path in my own life, I recognise that not every young person has the same opportunities. I am dedicated to breaking down barriers that prevent students from reaching their full potential. By addressing these obstacles, I hope to support and guide young people, helping them avoid life-altering setbacks and empowering them to achieve their aspirations. My goal is to contribute to an educational environment where every child has the chance to succeed and build a bright future.
