OUR VISION AND VALUES
Endeavour MAT was created to extend opportunities to all students in its care. We are unique in the area in that we have both selective and non-selective schools in the Trust which means that staff and students at the school will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with their counterparts at Wilmington Grammar School for Girls and Wilmington Grammar School for Boys and via alliances with other prestigious secondary schools within Kent.
Endeavour MAT accepts that a ‘one size fits all’ approach to education restricts student progress and therefore we promote a personalised approach to teaching and learning in all of its schools. Students are loosely set according to their relative performance in different subjects and are also gender set where appropriate, to ensure learning approaches can be tailored to meet individual and group requirements. Active learning rather than passive learning is encouraged and the schools take steps to ensure that as far as possible, any potential barriers to learning are removed for students.
In Stone Lodge School we share a core belief that emotional wellbeing and academic attainment go hand in hand. As with all Endeavour MAT schools, students are encouraged to adopt a growth mindset (Endeavour Mindset), which is critical to personal development and there is a collective appreciation that intelligence is neither fixed nor finite as we all embark on a journey of self-improvement.
Our vision is clear: We want all of our students to graduate from Stone Lodge School with the capacity to make significant changes for the better within their local, national and global community.
Our values are summed up using the following acronym:
R I D E S
Respect
We acknowledge that members of our school community are consistently expected to give due regard to the feelings, wishes, and rights of others. We accept the premise that we should treat others as we would wish to be treated.
Integrity
is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. This is an important value within Stone Lodge School
Determination
All stakeholders are expected to show drive and a will to succeed. This is often known as having’ grit’. In the Stone Lodge community, all stakeholders are expected to try their hardest and not easily surrender when a task appears to be too difficult.
Equality
of Opportunity refers to the fact that Stone Lodge is keen to ensure fairness and an absence of discrimination, in the sense that opportunities are available for all students within the school, regardless of any protected characteristics such as race, colour, age, gender, national origin, religion, or mental or physical disabilities.
Self-Management
All our participants are expected to manage their time, resources and behaviours to ensure they reach their potential and add to the common good.

Governance
Stone Lodge School is part of Endeavour MAT, which has its own website to explain the overall strategic Trust structure. At local level however, each school has its own Local Governing Body (LGB). Our LGB has one current vacancy for a community governor. Mr Barnett, the Head Teacher, is an ex-officio governor. We are pleased to have recruited a diverse group of people with complementary strengths and experience.
The role of the LGB to monitor the effectiveness of the school’s vision, plans and implementation such that the school is compliant with national policies and provides value for money. Since moving into the new building in April 2022 and with light touch Covid arrangements, the LGB has been able to increase its physical presence in the school, meeting more staff, students, parents and carers. We are enormously proud of how our staff, students, parents and carers have embraced all of the changes. Our evidence to date, which includes some nationally comparable data, suggests that our students are doing extremely well.
Sara Kemsley, Endeavour MAT Trustee, chairs the LGB at Stone Lodge School.
