Blog week ending 18th December

A festive reflection on a fabulous term. As we come together to enjoy a festive lunch with Christmas carols and songs it’s the perfect moment to pause and celebrate all that we’ve achieved together this term.

From the joy and pride of our celebration assemblies to the sheer talent and teamwork showcased in our school production of Oliver! our students have truly shone. On the sports field, our football teams have brought home success and demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and school spirit in every fixture.

We’ve also opened our doors wide, welcoming families and future students at both the SL6 Open Event and the Year 6 Open Event. These occasions were buzzing with energy, showcasing the vibrancy of our community and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

Beyond the classroom, students have taken bold steps towards their futures with inspiring careers trips, exploring pathways and possibilities for life beyond school. Their curiosity and ambition have been matched by their compassion, with charitable fundraising initiatives reminding us all of the importance of giving back during this season of goodwill.

And of course, no December would be complete without Christmas jumper day, Christmas lunch and special festive films that have brought joy, laughter, and togetherness to our school family.

As headteacher, I couldn’t be prouder of the dedication, creativity, and kindness that have defined this term. It’s been a term to remember, and as we look forward to a well-deserved break, I wish every member of our school community a peaceful Christmas and a bright, hopeful New Year.

End of Term 2 Celebrations Assemblies. Our House Assemblies were an absolute treat this term, congratulations to EVERY student who was rewarded with a certificate, House Points or has won an Amazon Voucher as part of the Golden Ticket scheme. Every one of your achievements contributes to our community at large – benefitting us all.

On Sunday, Jacob S of 10G took part in the Santa Flight at Hangloose Bluewater, joining many others dressed as Santa to raise money for Blaze, a charity close to his heart.

Blaze was founded in memory of Jacob’s best friend, Benjamin, who was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour called DIPG. Sadly, Benjamin passed away just seven months later in March 2021. Since then, Blaze has worked to raise awareness and funds to support families affected by DIPG.

Every participant contributed to raising crucial monies and awareness to help other families. With dozens of Santas soaring through the skies, it was a joyful and inspiring way to honour Benjamin’s memory while supporting an important cause. We’re proud of Jacob for his courage and commitment, and we hope his efforts will inspire others to learn more about DIPG and support Blaze’s mission.
